Last (2015) year I finished my diploma project Natural Attraction at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg. This short film was highly inspired by the icelandic nature and I collected a lot of references from the internet to create the landscape. Unfortunately I didn’t have the oppurtunity to travel there in person.
In Mai 2016 I finally had the chance to visit this beautiful country and breathe some fresh icelandic air for two weeks while following Route #1 around the whole island with lots of detours to all kind of spectactular views and places.
And I really have to say that the experience surpassed my imagination – everything seems bigger, wider and more colorful – the landscape is extremely vast and airy! The wind is relentless, cold and harsh – it never seems to stop.
Here you can see some impressions I shot on the way with my Canon 700D. Of course I couldn’t resist to do some beatbox in the wilderness. 😉
The landscape and light in Iceland are amazingly photogenic. Most of the time there is a thick yet always very diverse cloud cover allowing sunlight to pass through here and there causing bright and colorful patches of illumination on the mossy hills and impressive rocks.
I shot quite a bit of material that is sill waiting to be edited. This is a first panorama that I created from about 10 images with stitching and matte painting techniques to get the maximum out of the raw photos:
Lastly here are some impressions that I shot with my phone. I love this country!
Have an impressive day! 😉
